Kill a werebeast for Cyndassa. edit

Cyndassa wants you to accord a favor to her

[edit] Quick Walkthrough

  1. Talk to Cyndassa the maid when you reach level 5
  2. Kill her brother, the werecreature
  3. Report back to Cyndassa for some information

[edit] Detailed Walkthrough

You find Cyndassa in a back room of Daggerfall Castle tending to some menial tasks. Apparently, she's heard of you from somewhere as she has a job for you to do.

Me name is Cyndassa. Daggerfall. I'll tell you
everything I know, but I don't need to remind
you that there ain't no such thing as free info,
do I, Kral? I'm just a maid to
her highness, nothing but a fleck to the world,
and my needs ain't big. I need this werewolf done in.
I know just where it is -- some Stendarr forsook
hole called (some random dungeon). I can't
tell you why, but it's important to me that that
werewolf gets put outta its misery. I'll wait here
for (around 9) days for you -- that oughta be
plenty of time.

So, off you go on another routine dungeon romp, killing and destroying everything in your path...including the doomed werewolf. When you finally find and kill the werewolf in the depths of the dungeon a strange thing happens...

The body of the werewolf begins
to transform before your very
eyes. In just a few minutes, it
has become a young man who seems
to bear a strong resemblance to
Cyndassa.

Hmm, perhaps Cyndassa didn't tell you the whole story. Now would be a good time to hurry back to Daggerfall Capital and pay her a visit. After a hurried journey you reach the city and Cyndassa...

It's dead then, is it? Poor thing. He used to be
my brother. If you ask me, he died long ago,
when he first got bit. He hated himself when he
became that beast. I wish there'd been another
way to help him.
I promised I'd tell you about that letter yer
lookin for, didn't I now? Of course, I remember
that letter, Kral. It's not every
day that you gets a letter from the Emperor
himself, especially seein' as the King ain't
too fond of him. 'Fact, that's the only letter
I ever seen from him. I give it to her majesty,
and she's all excited and she rip it open and
says "this isn't for me, this is addressed to
Mynisera." Then... boom! Her jaw fall open and
her eyes get real wide. She say she'll make
sure the Queen Mother gets it and that I don't
have to worry myself none about it.

Well, most interesting indeed. You wonder what was in the letter that would make Queen Aubk-i react like that. Perhaps a little visit to the queen or the queen mother Mynisera would clear the fog that currently obscures your mind.

[edit] Reputation Gain

In case you slay the werewolf and return in time you will gain reputation according to the table below.

Faction/Person Reputation Gain
Daggerfall +25
Cyndassa +20
Court of Daggerfall +18
Associated Factions +13

(Allies/Enemies affiliations for listed factions are not considered)

[edit] Special Walkthrough

The questfile that comes with the QUESTPAK.ZIP file should have provided an alternative way to do this quest, but due some oversights in the questfile this way can not be taken. However the regular task, finding the werewolf and kill it, can be done without any problems and the outcome is identical to that of the original quest. The major advantage of this quest is the fact, that the werewolf will always be in the Tristore Laboratory, a dungeon on the Island of Betony. The following walkthrough is for players who want to use this questfile to accomplish the Cyndassa part of the main quest.

[edit] Finding the Werewolf

The Tristore Laboratory

Although the werewolf can be found very easily, the monsters that inhabit this place are rather tough. You will come up against spellcasters, including Ancient Liches (even at lower levels), Daedroths and Atronachs.

The werewolf is very close to the dungeon's entrance, in fact it is only a few steps away from it.

From the entrance walk south until you come to an intersection, head east and follow the hallway, go through the door at the end.

You have reached a huge room and the werewolf will be in the north-western corner of this room. Jump down the ledge and kill it. There is a treasure pile on the top of the ramp in the middle of the room. Return back to Cyndassa after you have accomplished the task.

Players, who want to know some background infos about the second way this quest was intended to be done, can read the following two notes, that are also pretty close to the dungeon's entrance.
