[edit] Is this a quest?
Is this really even a quest? I'd say it's really more of an easter egg, though admittedly not very well hidden like most easter eggs. It's not like there's really anything you have to DO. You just walk up the road and it happens. You can try to save him, but there's no reward for doing that. (In fact, it's worse, since you don't get to loot his stuff if you do that.) Oh, second question - should it be mentioned that this quest is referenced in Oblivion, in the special edition newspaper after the Sheogorath quest? Might be an interesting side-note. --TheRealLurlock 10:53, 4 November 2006 (EST)
- Well, I thought it was sort of a quest since the player actually needs to take an action in order for the wizard to fall (albiet, it is a simple action--walk along this particular path). But, the player actually sees the wizard fall, and doesn't just happen upon his body.
- I didn't realize it was mentioned in Oblivion, so yes, I do think it's worthwhile to note. Can you add that info?--Hoggwild5 11:06, 4 November 2006 (EST)

- This is not officially a quest, as it doesn't produce any quest entry in your journal, and the player is not required to do anything but collect the scrolls from his corpse. I'd say is just an Easter Egg and can be removed from the quests section, leaving references to the Easter Egg in the Seyda Neen page. --DrPhoton 03:31, 6 November 2006 (EST)

- Agreed. The entry is excellent... but probably shouldn't be linked to from the "quests" page. It's more of a bonus for those who are wandering over the Bitter Coast and suddenly hear a scream from the heavens... --WildKard 04:39, 25 February 2007 (EST)

[edit] Icarus reference
Scrolls of Icarian Flight are likely a reference to Icarus, a mythical figure who made wings out of feathers and wax. He flew too close to the sun, however, and it melted the wax, causing him to fall to his death much like Tarhiel. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 32.157.56.203 (talk • contribs) on 16 September 2008.
[edit] Uses of Icarian Flight
These scrolls can actually come in handy in a limited amount of situations. One potentially useful situation is safely jumping on top of that big rock floating above Vivec's palace, which is handy if you don't have any levitation spells/potions or any coda flowers for the levitate shrine nearby. It's likely (I haven't tried, though) to clear the Ghostfence, although I'm sure you need slowfall for this one. It probably has other minor uses such as jumping on top of large towers, castles and the like, although there are easier methods for stuff like this in most of these cases. - The finesse needed to jump up to the Ministry of Truth is astounding. It is possible to do, but simply buying a potion inside, or nabbing some ingredients outside are much, much easier. Although there are uses for this unique find, declaring that specifically as one is like saying Daedric Arrows are for killing Fargoth from the top of the lighthouse, it's certainly possible, but the use of rare items on such a mild task and with such narrow perspective on gameplay can misdirect people.
