[edit] Unexpected Death
"...when he's not treasure hunting in the area's Ayleid ruins..."
Is that true, does he actually go to Ayleid ruins? If so, is it possible for him to die there, because (according to this page) he is not essential? NOTE- This means on a NON-quest related basis (i.e. When not on the Nothing you can possess and Secrets of the Alyeids quests) --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jiaan Phillida (talk • contribs) on 17 December 2007.
- I suspect that like all NPCs that travel to other locations, they're perfectly safe provided you're nowhere near them. Creatures and bandits and the like only appear when you're near, so provided you don't follow him to the Ayleid ruins, he can come and go completely unharmed. --TheRealLurlock Talk 23:41, 16 December 2007 (EST)
[edit] Destination
Where does he go if you decide to not give up the painting to him. He flees on his horse somewhere... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.66.8.98 (talk • contribs) on 19 December 2008.
- See the Notes on the relevant quest. He heads back to the Roxey Inn. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 04:22, 19 December 2008 (EST)
[edit] Died more than once?
When I first did this Quest, I had killed him and most of his men (Except the archer) at the end of "Nothing You Can Possess". However, he was alive and well when I did this quest. Has this happened before?58.178.82.19 05:33, 1 February 2009 (EST)
- Could you be more specific about what quests you are talking about? I suppose the first 'Quest' is Nothing You Can Possess and I'm guessing that 'this quest' is Secrets of the Ayleids. If can point to a specific quest it will be easier to help you. --SerCenKing 08:29, 1 February 2009 (EST)
- Sorry, I should have pointed that out. Yes, the quest I was talking about was Secrets of the Ayleids. I will try to be clearer next time. 58.178.71.80 06:20, 20 February 2009 (EST)

- If you have killed Claude Maric before this quest, he will still meet you outside the ruin during the quest. He will not be hostile, and he will make comment on how you bested him before. Quite amusing indeed. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.209.0.208 (talk • contribs) on 26 May 2009.

[edit] Random Illusion Spell, eh?
I walked into Roxey Inn while playing today and saw a random invisible NPC in there. I thought it was someone from Aleswell, but it was Claude Maric, who for some reason had cast Invisibility on himself before I had arrived. I wonder what the heck he was fighting outside the Inn before I got there. Just thought I'd mention this, since NPC behavior gets strange like this sometimes. - KeitaKoneko 02:39, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
- If you take a look at this discussion, you will see that you are not the only one who have met Claude wearing his chameleon-enchanted equipment (the same equipment he will use at the end of the Nothing You Can Possess-quest). Krusty 07:26, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
