[edit] Quick question

Is it safe to enter this cave BEFORE starting the related quest? After the mess with the Harlun's Watch quest, I'm paranoid about entering important quest-related locations ahead of time... GenocideHeart 17:43, 7 March 2009 (EST)

As explained in the Notes section on the page, you can enter and explore the cave but it will be completely unhabited and the corpses of the two keepers will not be present, negating you entrance to Wellspring Grove. So no, there is no way to 'mess up' the quest by entering but I wouldn't see much point in it other than sleeping in the bedrolls or picking some ingredients, as there are no loot chests. --SerCenKing 17:51, 7 March 2009 (EST)
Actually, there is a sack near one of the bedrolls. I was wondering if it respawns, because if not, this cave can count as yet another safe house as long as you don't activate the related quest. I'll test the sack now. GenocideHeart 17:55, 7 March 2009 (EST)

[edit] Safe container found!

The sack next to the bedrolls shortly after the entrance appears to be safe. I left a copy of the Mages Guild Charter in it, went outside, traveled to the IC Prison, waited over 73 hours, returned and sure enough, it was still there. This place has alchemy equipment, Cairn Boletes, beds, a bunch of books, tables, some torches for lighting and is enemy-free until A Mage's Staff is completed, making it easily one of the best deals for a starting character as far as a 'free house' goes, and an especially good place for roleplaying. I'm editing the article to add this information. GenocideHeart 18:11, 7 March 2009 (EST)

Sorry, but I'm taking it off again. We are not going to start listing every single safe container in every single location. There are many more easily-accessible safe locations available at the start of the game - the Hollowed-Out Tree Stump behind Edgar's Discount Spells for instance. –RpehTCE 03:26, 8 March 2009 (EDT)
Fair enough, though I'd like to point out that the hollowed out tree stump does NOT have a bed right next to it for you to sleep in, meaning you have to go in the inn and spend money to rest. And no, the bedrolls in the nearby sewer don't work - the enemies on the other side of the door near them prevent you from sleeping or waiting. Just saying... GenocideHeart 07:23, 8 March 2009 (EDT)
