Sundered Towers and surrounding ruins

Sundered Towers is a large area of outdoor ruins situated on a peak northeast of Red Eagle Redoubt. It consists of a series of stone staircases and winding paths, interspersed with landings inhabited by camped Forsworn, that culminate at the towers that give this location its name.

The path leading up to the towers starts south of the peak, where a campfire marks the entrance to Red Eagle Ascent. Be sure to check the ledge above the entrance, where you will find a chest with a leveled lock. Climbing the stairs to the north will bring you to a landing where two leveled Forsworn patrol. Continuing north, the path passes through three stone arches before reaching the main Forsworn encampment, where they have erected their tents. Three leveled Forsworn will wander about the lower portion of the camp, while a fourth will often be found working or sleeping in a tent to the west that contains an alchemy lab. Three more leveled Forsworn can be found in the upper half of the camp, which sports a forge, workbench, and wood chopping block. Another leveled chest sits next to the workbench.

The path continues around the foundation of the ruins to a set of stairs at the north end that lead up to the top. A leveled Forsworn will patrol these stairs, guarding the Forsworn Briarheart that rules this camp from his throne atop the ruins. The Briarheart carries the Red Eagle Tower Key, as well as the unique sword Red Eagle's Fury; taking the sword from his corpse will start its associated quest if you haven't already begun it. An altar across from the throne has a pedestal that holds Red Eagle's Rite. The Briarheart's tent south of the throne holds a chest containing leveled loot, as well as a copy of The Legend of Red Eagle resting on a table.

To the left of the throne is a set of wooden steps that lead up to the master-locked door to an uninhabited rough stone tower. The key you took of the corpse of the Brairheart will unlock this door. Climbing up through the tower and out to a wooden ramp will lead to the second floor of the tower and a raised drawbridge. A pull-chain just inside the arch next to the drawbridge will lower both halves, allowing access to another tower to the east. Both towers hold a few scattered items of value, such as leveled potions and soul gems, while the eastern tower also contains a chest. A barred door at the base of the eastern tower lets out onto the eastern highlands of the Reach.

Notes

• This location cannot be independently cleared. It will only show up as such when the boss-level creatures in Red Eagle Redoubt have been killed, as the game considers these zones one unit for the purpose of calculating clears.
• Sundered Towers itself will never add to your count of cleared locations, and therefore does not contribute to the Delver achievement.

Bugs

• The book Red Eagle’s Rite on the altar might clip beneath the surface, making it unreachable without the console.
  • This bug is fixed by version 1.3.2 of the Unofficial Skyrim Patch.
