Rename[edit]

Renaming this page to (dead) would put it at odds with all the other general corpse pages, races, bandits, etc (Category:Skyrim-Dead_NPCs). Rename one and rename all. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 23:40, 25 May 2014 (GMT)

Not sure why we decided to follow that procedure. The "NPC" suffix is for pages like Skyrim:Breton (NPC), to distinguish the corpses from the race page. It shouldn't be used for dead NPCs when their living counterparts are very much NPCs themselves. —Legoless (talk) 00:36, 26 May 2014 (GMT)
It's not just the races; bandits, the thief, and treasure hunters are named this way. I'm only saying that you can't have one inconsistent one. (dead) would work just as well for the naming, maybe better, but it cannot be inconsistent. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:46, 26 May 2014 (GMT)
I think that would be a good idea. —Legoless (talk) 00:50, 26 May 2014 (GMT)
I agree that it makes sense, and have tentatively moved it on that basis, but I also agree with Silencer that it currently creates an inconsistency, so we'll need to review the dead NPCs pages. We also need to figure out what to do with pages where there are mixed living and dead NPCs on the page, like Skyrim:Treasure Hunter (NPC). — Unsigned comment by RobinHood70 (talkcontribs) at 22:04 on 27 January 2016 (UTC)
Treasure Hunter (NPC) works because there is only one page for all NPCs of that name. For "Thief", there are multiple different types of thieves and labelling only one of them an NPC makes no sense. If a page is being differentiated based on the fact that the NPC is dead, then (dead) works best. I think we can take a common sense approach like we do with all other disambigs. —Legoless (talk) 22:09, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
That was my feeling as well, but I wanted to bring it up on the off chance that there was a reason I wasn't thinking of to split mixed pages into (NPC) and (dead) pages. Robin Hood  (talk) 22:24, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
Well, we could split them I guess. Treasure Hunter could be divided between (bandit) and (dead) if we wanted to take that route, for example. —Legoless (talk) 22:26, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
Given that they're now the odd man out in Category:Skyrim-Dead NPCs, I'm inclined to think we should split them. I'll use your suggested naming for each after the split. Robin Hood  (talk) 22:33, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
