expulsion

Not sure expulsion is a bug, it may be a consequence of killing. Tolfdir explains that, among other things, killing fellow mages is frowned upon at the College. 184.158.98.124 02:43, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

Possible Bug

I was challenged outside my house in Whiterun, I was making a supply run, where i am moving lots of junk for money and had on no armor etc on me. Just junk to sell and didn't want to battle, I went into the house while he was shooting at me. When I got my equip back on and went outside he is nowhere to be found yet the quest is still on my list, and when I select it and hit x (on 360) to show on map the location of the challenger it doesn't have a marker showing. So I am thinking this is sadly a glitch/bug in the quest and it can't ever be done now.71.8.228.166 01:16, 9 February 2012

a 31% chance?!?

Is this figure correct?

It would mean that a Challenger appears once in every three settlements. That will quickly amount to dozens of challengers during regular gameplay.

I believe once you have defeated the challenger, it doesn't happen again.

I also found the 31% probability doubtful, however, I went through the page's history to check the source. The source is from a frequent editor, and his edit notes indicate he took the information directly from the game files. There could be a mistake, but it may just seem more rare than it is due to the fact that: The 31% chance is only after you reach or pass a skill level of 50 in a magic school, and it might be true that it only happens once. In particular, what if you ran by a farm quickly enough to cause the Challenger to spawn, but left before he could challenge you? I don't know if that's possible (would he follow you like a courier?), but it might even be possible for some players to skip this quest by accident. --Amsuko 20:29, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

The 31% (actually 31/101) chance is for any of 7 different events to occur, and even then, at most, they'll occur only every few days, as I recall. Thinking about it, I took that statement out of there completely, as there are so many things that go into figuring out whether an SM Event will occur, it's somewhat ludicrous to try to put a number on it. – Robin Hood↝talk 05:59, 1 April 2012 (UTC)

Conjuration is not magic?

Apparently he doesn't acknowledge Conjuration as magic, where he constantly yelling "You're cheating, use magic" and "This is a one-on-one fight" when I'm fighting him with a Flame Atronach and a Bound Sword (+shield) 80.202.97.67 22:16, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

It Might be because you can Cast The Spells all you want, but when you hit him, it's just you hitting him, and your "Follower" attacking him too--KainMoogle (talk) 02:44, 15 September 2012 (GMT)

How to finish this quest after changing locations?

I changed location when I was fighting with challanger and now I can't finish this quest. Is there is any way to finish this quest? Something like setStage ... ? //Gold Raven
