Welcome[edit]

Hey Tanranka! Welcome to the wiki. I hope you enjoy using the site and find the information on it useful. If you decide you want to help improve any of our pages, we're always welcoming to new editors so feel free. You might want to look at our Getting Started page for some tips on how to begin, then play in our Sandbox for a while to practice. If you need any help or advice, please ask one of our mentors. Enjoy! --Mr. Oblivion(T-C) 23:59, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Areldur[edit]

Please stop adding the faction information to Oblivion:Areldur. It is already listed in the page in the NPC Summary. And your information is actually wrong, as he joins as soon as the plug-in is installed. --Mr. Oblivion(T-C) 01:49, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

I thought it was a glitch and im pretty sure he comes to the Priory asking to be part of the Knights of the Nine. And why did you delete the quest you guys left out? — Unsigned comment by Tanranka (talkcontribs) on 25 June 2009
The quest is not mentioned on any of them. We purposely leave them out. --Mr. Oblivion(T-C) 01:57, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks --Tanranka 01:58, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Umm question is there any thing I can help with? --Tanranka 02:04, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
My advice to you would be to click on the link to the left labeled "How to Contribute". There is a bunch of stuff that needs to be done. --Mr. Oblivion(T-C) 02:08, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

(outdent) I've restored Tanranka's edit. Areldur does indeed get added to the KotN faction during the game, so that information was correct. He is also involved in the Umaril the Unfeathered quest, so there's no reason that shouldn't appear too (unless there was some discussion I've forgotten). –RpehTCE 08:50, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Thank you. --Tanranka 12:44, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Please be careful though. Listing Areldur is one thing, because he joins the faction during the game. Methredhel, though, is always in the Thieves guild, so it doesn't need mentioning again in the article. –RpehTCE 12:47, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Hmm I thought on the May the best thief win quest she was trying to get into the thieves guild, beacuse after you beat her if you steal the book from her talk to her she says that you stole the book from her and now she has to wait to get into the Thieves Guild. --Tanranka 18:36, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
I don't understand why [1] it mentions the Umaril the Unfeathered quest when he is not truly part of it and it is only mentioned on two of the other Knights of the Nine and [2] it mentions the Knights of the Nine faction after a certain quest, when the NPC box clearly states that he is always part of this faction. Here is the reference I use. --Mr. Oblivion(T-C) 17:18, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Well he does take part in the quest if you notice he does go and fight with you, as for the joining part who made the NPC box? Though he does start as part of the Nine Divines faction--Tanranka 18:45, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Please note the reference I have given. It clearly states, as the information is gathered from the CS, that it is the eight knights who start in the faction. --Mr. Oblivion(T-C) 18:50, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

(outdent) Umm pardon the nooby question what is the CS? --Tanranka 18:51, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

The construction set. --Mr. Oblivion(T-C) 18:52, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Oh okay hmm that's strange I just don't get why he would always be in the KotN faction when he starts out, I think it means that he is one of the people you first let join therefore he would be one of the original new KotN. --Tanranka 18:55, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Starts out means starts out. Pretty clear as day. That reference is not mentioned on any of the other Knights' pages; therefore, it should be removed... again. --Mr. Oblivion(T-C) 19:00, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Okay but keep the Umaril part.--Tanranka 19:02, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
I am still hesitant to keep that as well. While he is part of the quest, he isn't part of the quest. --Mr. Oblivion(T-C) 19:04, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Well we could state that even though he is not a part of the quest he plays a part in it. --Tanranka 19:06, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

I have checked in the construction set and it appears that the eight original Knights do in fact join the Knights of the Nine faction during the game. The faction "NDKnightsoftheNine" uses scripts like "NDAreldurSCRIPT," "NDBrellinSCRIPT," etc. Searching those scripts reveals that they do in fact join the faction (at rank 0, in fact, which is "Knight Errant"). It looks like this:
begin OnPackageEnd NDAreldurToPriory
if GetInFaction NDKnightsoftheNine == 0
set ND00.KnightCount to ND00.KnightCount + 1
; turn him into Sir Areldur
SetActorFullName "Sir Areldur"
SetFactionRank NDKnightsoftheNine 0
So there ya go. At some point, all of the original knights--who do start in the "original eight" faction--also join the Knights of the Nine faction. The information should be added to their NPC infoboxes. Also, the Knights who accompany the player to the Umaril the Unfeathered quest should have it listed on their pages. They're involved, so they can have a link. –Eshetalk 20:06, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
No... the infobox is for the original factions. Any changes should be merged into the text eventually, but for now there's nothing wrong with their being listed as a separate section. –RpehTCE 20:10, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Is everyone good on this now? --Tanranka 23:15, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
I believe Eshe is going to fix it, so leave it to her. :) --Elliot(T-C), formerly known as Mr. Oblivion 23:37, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
good :) --Tanranka 23:38, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Advice[edit]

Whenever you make an edit, it is advised that you use the Show Preview button to check your edit, so you don't clog up the Special:RecentChanges page. Each edit has to be patrolled by a Patroller and having multiple edits for a single page can become tiresome after a while. Also, please take a look at this. Each time you reply to a message in a talk page, indent (use a colon at the beginning : of the message) one more indention than the prior editor. So, if you reply, you will start your message off with one colon. Thanks! --Elliot(T-C), formerly known as Mr. Oblivion 23:47, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

I feel I must ask that you read this again... --Elliot(T-C) 04:40, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
Oh I forgot to put the colon sorry. — Unsigned comment by Tanranka (talkcontribs) on 27 June 2009
