Spambots[edit]

Hey Dom, I noticed that you gave an IP a warning for spam. In this case, it's an obvious spambot and doesn't need a warning, it just needs blocked. Just a heads up! :) •WoahBro►talk 04:28, 23 July 2014 (GMT)

Force of habit. Sorry! ~ Ad intellige (talk) 04:29, 23 July 2014 (GMT)
We are talking about you on IRC!!! :P Drunkcey (talk) 04:30, 23 July 2014 (GMT)
May the Divines grant mercy on my soul then! :P ~ Ad intellige (talk) 04:33, 23 July 2014 (GMT)

Goblin lore article[edit]

Since I promised this here is the first sample of the Lore:Goblin article. User:Ashendant/Lore:Creature, feel free to edit or question any part of it however you see fit. I will revise it some more later and see if I can find more info. My biggest problem with this article is that the search isn't helping me much, because all of the times people from Orisinium are called goblins. :/ --Ashendant (talk) 22:01, 25 July 2014 (GMT)

Do you have any references? A lot of that material seems like speculation, although I haven't researched goblins before. ~ Ad intellige (talk) 00:41, 26 July 2014 (GMT)
Some of it was taken from the bestiary article and their associated game bestiaries. Other parts were from Lore:Goblin-ken. The Rieklings parts was taken from the Lore:Riekling. The horns thing was visible in the tribunal models. The rest was from simple game observations like Oblivion:Goblin Wars. If you have any doubts about a specific part tell me.--Ashendant (talk) 01:35, 26 July 2014 (GMT)
Now that proper references have been added, I don't see much issues. Please make sure you set the references up correctly. Later, I will fix them, but I would prefer not to have to. The references need to link to their respective pages. Sorry if I sound rude, I don't mean to :) ~ Ad intellige (talk) 02:00, 26 July 2014 (GMT)
To be honest I don't know how to reference some of these. Normally I don't reference description or behaviour, because they are observable ingame or trough the images. The Ogre thing comes directly from the bestiary so I don't know exactly the source. The Goblin Jim situation I don't know how to reference since this character just acts like a goblin shaman, and the same with rat domesticating since these are proven by having rat pens, them carrying rat meat, and there is a Goblin Rat Farmer. Do I reference these as Events in Oblivion?--Ashendant (talk) 02:21, 26 July 2014 (GMT)
I think it should be mentioned what animals do they tame. But that can be done later, and mention Rieklings as a possible variety. Anyway is the article good enough for now to be turned into it's own article?--Ashendant (talk) 15:02, 26 July 2014 (GMT)
What animals they tame is of little importance (We don't list what animals any other race can tame, AFAIK), and mentioning Rieklings as a possible variety is fine, but it really needs to flow which it didn't in your case. I'm going to say a wait a little because the article seems a little choppy. For example, and this is by no means a complete list, Muluk is another name for Mauloch which is another name for Malacath, you mention their scavenging and gear but only later mention the Primal style, their leaders are mentioned but it is only later that the shamans (Who are often leaders) are explained. ~ Ad intellige (talk) 17:16, 26 July 2014 (GMT)
I usually keep information about varieties in their own lines like its done on other articles. I didn't mention the interpretations of Muluk as Mauloch because that seems to be ingame speculation, but it is from a research journal, so now that I think about it a slight rephrasing would work. I will try to change that on the style. Yeah I should also rephrase on class divisions.
I will try to add more information, but I have that problem of goblin and goblin-ken being interchangeable.--Ashendant (talk) 19:54, 26 July 2014 (GMT)

() I would say the article is good enough to go through, but a second opinion might be a good idea to avoid any controversy. It isn't perfect, but it will probably improve massively once put in lore space. ~ Ad intellige (talk) 17:01, 27 July 2014 (GMT)

Someone on TES lore found a source connecting Mauloch to Malacath so I added that in. I'm waiting for an answer if Toothmaul gully in Auridon/ESO is indeed populated by goblins, confirming that goblins were slaves of the elves. I was considering listing the tribes by place and era in a table, kinda like in the Lycanthrope page, but it is not done in any other page.
But yeah I can do all of this later. I need to find a second opinion, better ask someone that I haven't before to broaden my options. Like legoless I think.--Ashendant (talk) 18:49, 27 July 2014 (GMT)
I can confirm the Toothmaul Gully question. Listing the tribes might not be a good idea, but it could work. ~ Ad intellige (talk) 22:01, 27 July 2014 (GMT)
Oh! Is the Toothmaul Gully filled with former goblin slaves of the high elves? Could you see if this line from ESO in the Riekling article is correct? "On mainland Skyrim, goblins are sometimes known as rieklings, although they bear no resemblance to the creatures of Solstheim.". Sorry if it hard to find.
Lore:Riekling mentions a single tribe, and I haven't found anywhere else where things like tribes are listed, so It probably isn't a good idea.--Ashendant (talk) 22:22, 27 July 2014 (GMT)
Yup. The goblins there side against the Dominion because of former slavery. I don't have a EP (Ebonheart Pact) character in Skyrim (Or able to get there) right now. Sorry! That line is true. ~ Ad intellige (talk) 23:26, 27 July 2014 (GMT)
Legoless told me it was good and to publish it. I will put those and the domestication concerns in the discussion.--Ashendant (talk) 01:49, 28 July 2014 (GMT)

Cookie[edit]

You have been given a cookie!

Your dedication and diligence to the wiki has not gone unnoticed. A user has seen the progress you've made, and has given you a cookie because of it. Good work! The user had the following to say:

Hey, I just wanted to thank you for helping me with that copyright issue. Helped get me back into the swing of things. You're a great editor, I wish you the best. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 00:56, 10 August 2014 (GMT)

That cookie was very good :) I'm glad I helped get you back into the swing of things. Seeing your name in RC is always nice :) ~ Ad intellige (talk) 03:27, 10 August 2014 (GMT)

Best Wishes[edit]

I noticed your edit about your health. Whatever is going on, I wish you the best! --AKB Talk Cont Mail 01:26, 25 August 2014 (GMT)

It seems like half the users on UESP have had health issues over the summer. Hope you recover quickly! Robin Hood  (talk) 01:50, 25 August 2014 (GMT)
Thanks to both of you! I should be able to do minor edits here and there but major ones are unlikely. I had thought I was one of the lucky few who wasn't going to have health issues. That didn't work out :P ~ Ad intellige (talk) 21:13, 26 August 2014 (GMT)

Console Fixes[edit]

Just to clear that up, it's my understanding that we can document console fixes for bugs, since it can be handy to PC players who have experienced the bug, particularly if they aren't familiar with the console. We just don't document console uses to do things that can be done normally, like giving yourself a quest item. --AN|L (talk) 15:14, 25 October 2014 (GMT)

Ah, okay! I couldn't remember if we did because of how the console can fix one thing and then break a bunch of other stuff. ~ Ad intellige (talk) 17:41, 25 October 2014 (GMT)

For More Information[edit]

Since you seem to be doing a bunch of these, I thought I'd let you know I just created a {{FMI}} template to make it totally standardized. Just slap that on the page in place of the "For more information" bit, and it should handle everything from there (as I did on Lore:Kothringi). It's a fairly simple template for now and will always add the text as a new paragraph (meaning you should remove any blank lines before it) and always use the exact same wording. If you find cases where it needs more customization than that, let me know and I can alter the template as needed. Robin Hood  (talk) 01:23, 3 November 2014 (GMT)

I'm going to try to not come off as rude or anything (If I do I am so so so sorry), but next time can you please tell me before you make it since I already brought it up here? ~ Ad intellige (talk) 01:26, 3 November 2014 (GMT)
Sorry, I hadn't realized there had been a discussion. I knew there were a lot of instances of text like that, and not just on Race pages, so I thought it would be helpful in the long run. I used the exact same text and link as what you're using, so it should be okay to use as is, making it standard across all pages. Plus, of course, being templated, it'll be easy to change later on if we need to. Robin Hood  (talk) 01:33, 3 November 2014 (GMT)
Yea, I guessed you hadn't seen it (Not many people venture into my pet project lol). One thing I noticed was some pages had lore capitalized, so should the template say "Lore" or "lore"? ~ Ad intellige (talk) 01:36, 3 November 2014 (GMT)
I was wondering that, myself. Personally, I'd tend to go with the capitalized version, since it's referring to a namespace, but I generally stay out of Lore space and lore-like articles, so I'm good with either. Robin Hood  (talk) 01:38, 3 November 2014 (GMT)
I would go with capitalized as well, personally, though it's perfectly understandable either way. -- Hargrimm(T) 01:40, 3 November 2014 (GMT)
I prefer it not capitalized since it just looks odd to me when it is capitalized in the middle of a sentence. Just a random thing, is it possible to center the "You have new messages" text for the ugly orange bar? ~ Ad intellige (talk) 02:03, 3 November 2014 (GMT)

() Yup. Just add .usermessage { text-align: center; } to User:Dominus Arbitrationis/monobook.css (or common.css would've done it too) and it should center the message. Robin Hood  (talk) 02:17, 3 November 2014 (GMT)

Oh well that is easy. Is there a list of divs that are hidden depending on the situation? (Like the New Message banner) ~ Ad intellige (talk) 03:38, 3 November 2014 (GMT)
Not that I can think of. The MediaWiki site has a manual and documents a lot of these sorts of things, but I find it can be a bit disorganized at times. I just figured your question out by sending myself a message on a test wiki, then inspecting what showed up. Robin Hood  (talk) 05:33, 3 November 2014 (GMT)

Using Tor[edit]

Hey Dom, I noticed these two edits were identified as being made through Tor. I'm not 100% sure on this, but judging by the last warning message, it doesn't look like edits via Tor are allowed. I just want to make sure you don't end up with a warning or block. You're much too valuable :) •WoahBro►talk 02:04, 5 November 2014 (GMT)

Yea, I was under the impression that Tor edits from registered users were allowed, but I try to avoid using it unless it was my only option. Hopefully I don't get a warning or block! :) ~ Ad intellige (talk) 02:06, 5 November 2014 (GMT)
I wasn't able to find anything policy-wise, but I wouldn't just to be safe because it flags it on the RC. Don't worry, I'm pretty sure you're all good! •WoahBro►talk 02:09, 5 November 2014 (GMT)
The fact that it is flagged on the RC, but all anon edits from it are blocked is what gave me the impression. ~ Ad intellige (talk) 02:10, 5 November 2014 (GMT)
As the resident historian (by which I mean: addict who can't seem to stop editing), I can tell you that TorBlock was put in place a long time ago when we were having issues with sockpuppetry and anonymous accounts vandalizing the wiki or leaving insulting messages. As long as you're using your primary account, and you're in good standing, everything's fine. It's things like the above or block evasion that we're worried about, not good faith users. A check of my IP history would reveal a number of edits where I'm apparently not in Canada (not through Tor, mind you), so if you get in trouble, so do I. :Þ Robin Hood  (talk) 03:41, 5 November 2014 (GMT)

Forumlike Pages[edit]

Heya Dom! In regards to new talk pages that are created with a forumlike topic, they can just be speed'd with a description like "Forumlike topic" or "Page created for forumlike topic" etc. Just so ya know :) •WoahBro►talk 04:57, 8 January 2015 (GMT)

Ah, thanks! We really need a way to tell people about forumlike posts other than relying on the edit summary. Way too few people read those :( ~ Ad intellige (talk) 22:01, 8 January 2015 (GMT)

Thanks![edit]

I had about four different things going on at once while I was editing earlier, and it obviously wasn't good for me. Thanks for the fixes! Robin Hood  (talk) 05:14, 19 January 2015 (GMT)

Thank you[edit]

Thanks for adding the transclusion to Skyrim:Combat for Skyrim:Unarmed Combat. I hadn't even thought of that! :) --GodRaineTalk 02:08, 20 January 2015 (GMT)

No problem! ~ Ad intellige (talk) 02:10, 20 January 2015 (GMT)

Navpopup[edit]

Hey there. I know you haven't been active in a long time, but in case you ever return, you used to use a Javascript utility called "navpopups". That's about to be deleted because it's now available directly from the gadget menu (as "Navigation popups"). I'll be editing your Javascript so it doesn't just break should you ever log back in, but you'll have to change the gadget settings yourself. Robin Hood(talk) 19:19, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
