Skooma Den
Skooma Den

In the center of Bravil, above Carandial's house, is an abandoned house called the Skooma Den. The door is locked and difficult to pick, but inside is a group of Skooma addicts who literally can't stop drinking the drug, not even while in conversation with you.

The Skooma Den has beds you can sleep in without payment when the addicts are up and about, and the addicts themselves are each carrying a small fortune in Skooma that can be pickpocketed off of them. If you're the sneak/thief sort, a nice sum of gold is waiting for you. The altered state of the addicts in the Den has some funny consequences: it is possible to pickpocket their Skooma while in full view in the Den, and none of them will care. It is possible to murder any (or all) of the addicts in full view of the others, and the rest will simply egg you on. This does not seem to incur a bounty, although a murder will get noticed by the Dark Brotherhood.

[edit] Notes

  • For fun, wait until late at night and watch who shows up at the Skooma Den's door for a fix. Bravil plays host to more than one functional addict.
  • After you have completed the Fighters Guild line of quests, someone outside the Skooma Den might talk about how disgusted they are about the Blackwood company using Hist Sap, when asked about "Rumors." Ironic, isn't it?
  • Sometimes when you try to pickpocket them it won't work. When you try again it will put you out of the pickpocketing screen. If this happens just keep trying it until it works. It may take a few times.
  • If you kill all the people living in the den and take all the Skooma they have on them you can get an average of 30 bottles of the drug.
  • S'Krivva is also a member of the Skooma Den Faction.
  • The Skooma Den is an allusion to the real opium dens that existed in the nineteenth century.
