Chameleon M% for D seconds
Causes the target to become partially transparent and blend into the background for the duration of the spell. The Magnitude is the degree of transparency. 100% Chameleon is equivalent to Invisibility, making you completely undetectable. Unlike Invisibility, however, Chameleon is not cancelled when you activate objects, so you can attack people, grab items, open doors, and whatever else you want to do without the spell dissipating. Your detectability is also greatly affected by your Sneak skill while using Chameleon. The greater your Sneak skill, the less Chameleon you will need to be unseen. (Note that you must actually be sneaking for the Sneak skill to have any effect.)
[edit] Notes
- You can combine Chameleon on yourself with Blind on your intended victim to become truly undetected without need for much the Sneak skill. All 3 factors combine to determine your overall chance of being seen.
- Talking to NPCs while under the effect of a strong Chameleon effect may frighten them and lower their Disposition towards you. You should wait until the effect is cancelled (or remove any items providing it) before talking to anyone if you want them to like you.
- Some enemies will flee if you attack them while under the effect of a strong Chameleon spell. If they can't see you, they will be afraid and run away. A Rally spell may come in handy in these situations.
