The Hill of Suicides and its restless ghosts.
The Hill of Suicides and its restless ghosts.

Undocumented Quest Unlike most quests in Oblivion, this quest has no specific beginning point and is not tracked in your quest log as you complete each of the ten discrete requirements. When you visit The Hill of Suicides, you find that it is not even possible to talk or interact in any way with the ghosts- all you can discover about them is their names. The object is to discover and return each of the five skulls listed below to its respective named Ghost. It can be done in any order and one at a time or all five at once. Returning the first four skulls to its Ghost results in nothing more than the disappearance of that Ghost from the Hill and the removal of its skull from your inventory, with no explanation or other dialog. Only upon returning the final (fifth) skull to its ghostly owner will the game inform and reward the player.

[edit] Detailed Walkthrough

[edit] Locating the Hill of Suicides

The location is clearly marked upon the map, roughly in the middle of the Isles. The exact location is just south of the letters "Th" in the word "The" in the map label "The Hill of Suicides."

[edit] Lorenz Bog-trotter's Skull

Lorenz Bog-trotter's skull is located in the Lost Crypts, which are located in Knotty Bramble. Once in the Lost Crypts, you see there are four bodies, each on their own pedestal. There are two skeletons and two Zealots. There are two statues in each small chamber. Observe that in 3 of the chambers both the statues are looking upwards. The chamber which has a statue looking downwards at a zealot's body, is the one with a switch hidden under the body. Move the body away and hit this switch. It will lower a wall to the middle room. Bog-trotters body is on a pedestal and you can take his skull. There are two urns and two chests that contain leveled loot. Beware, because as soon as you take the skull, the zealots will reanimate and attempt to kill you.

[edit] Gadeneri Ralvel's Skull

Gadeneri Ralvel's skull is located in the Chantry of Knifepoint Hollow. This skull is at the end of the dungeon in a small room. It is on top of a chest behind a secret wall. You need to hit a switch which may be hard to see. The switch is on one of the two pillars in the room. The 2 pillars are square with busts looking down on a blood stained table with lit candles, a bowl and silver dagger. The switch is on the North side of the North pillar. If you end up back in a small room named where you started you've come near full circle and have gone too far. Go back East a bit and look for the 2 pillars. Leave skull room and head due West to door, go through it and hit button on right wall to open hidden door and you're back in Knifepoint Hollow and a winding quick exit out.

[edit] Salonia Viria's Skull

Salonia Viria's skull is located in Cann in the Amphitheater. Cann is directly west of Highcross. Once you enter go through the metal door and down the stairs then take the hallway on the right all the way down to a small room. Her skull is on the bottom right hand corner, on a shrine surrounded by harvested Screaming Maw samples.

[edit] Limark's Skull

Limark's skull is located in Milchar. The entrance to the Milchar Xetrem is located east-south-east from the Nexus entrance and south-west from the Tieras entrance. Pretty much between the "r" and "L" of the words "Over Look Road". If you come from the direction of the Nexus entrance you probably pass through one of those natural stone-arches. When using the Xetrem entrance, the first thing you will see are two Scalon staues facing each other. Pass them and you will walk towards some archway with a fire burning on each side. Don't go through that, turn left instead and walk up the stairs. On top of those stairs turn right and keep walking down the hall passing another tunnel on your left (the way you will come back, if you choose to) and down some more stairs. At this point you will reach a small drop, too shallow to take damage but too high to jump back up again. There you will find a skeleton with Limark's skull next to it. The way back is pretty much just keep walking lefthand-ways till you reach the intersection mentioned earlier.

[edit] M'Desi's Skull

M'Desi's skull is located in the Sanctum of Rotten Den, which is just south of Fellmoor. The skull is on top of a chest in the only brick room in the Sanctum.

[edit] Free Their Souls

Each time you find a skull you can return it to the ghost of its former owner. You can do this individually, or wait until you have all five. Return to the Hill of Suicides, approach the ghost and attempt to talk to him/her. If you have the correct skull, it will be removed from your inventory and the ghost will vanish. After the fifth skull has been returned, you will receive the spell (Greater Power) called Risen Flesh which reanimates a dead body on touch for 60 seconds.

[edit] Notes

  • Every ghost will cast a Spirit Spell on you of 100 points Fortify Fatigue.
  • Erver Devani of Deepwallow is the brother of Gadeneri Relval. If you visit him before returning her skull, he tells you a pretty interesting story about the Hill of Suicides and Gadeneri. And, if you visit him after returning Gadeneri's skull, he will reward you with gold.
  • Gaining the Risen Flesh greater power does not add the "Reanimate" spell effect to the Altar of Spellmaking.
