[edit] Detailed Walkthrough

[edit] Finding Divayth Fyr

After the last quest to destroy the Sixth House base near Gnaar Mok, you contracted the deadly Corprus disease. Now, returning to Caius in Balmora, he offers you a possible cure. Aparently, Fast Eddie in town says that a Telvanni Wizard, Divayth Fyr, runs a Corprusarium deep beneath his tower in Tel Fyr. Caius is also kind enough to provide a Dwemer artifact to help raise Divayth's disposition, some gold to pay for the cure, and a few levitation potions for use in the tower. The artifact is a Dwemer Coherer (weight 40), so be sure you're able to carry that much.

Tel Fyr is on the east side of the Island opposite Balmora, so its quite a walk (check your paper map as its not marked on your in-game world map). The fastest way would be to take a Guild Guide over to Sadrith Mora or, alternatively, you can take a boat to Sadrith Mora from Ebonheart. Taking the Guild Guide from the Balmora Mages Guild is quick, easy, cheap, and you don't actually need to be a member to use it. Tel Fyr is a little south-west of Sadrith Mora and can be a little tricky to find, as it's on one of those small islands (Position 124400, 15800, 500 or coc "Tel Fyr" using the console). The actual name of the place is Tel Fyr, Onyx Hall.

[edit] Meet with Divayth Fyr

Once inside Tel Fyr, Onyx Hall, you can talk to one of his daughters on the main level to find out that Divayth is in his study, accessible by the main fly well. The fly well is upstairs in the Hall of Fyr, just inside the entrance. Levitate up and find the well dressed Divayth in Daedric armor. Give him the Dwemer artifact and ask him about the divine disease (unless you were actually leering at his daughters). Alternatively, you might have to raise his Disposition by persuasion in order to get him to talk to you. Mention that you may fulfill the Nerevarine Prophecies and he will offer you a possibly fatal cure for Corprus...with a price. You must fetch a pair of boots from Yagrum Bagarn below in the Corprusarium and return them to Divayth.

If you have 'accidently' ticked off Divayth previously by killing some of the members of the Corprusarium, there are still several ways for you to continue this quest. Depending on how much he hates you, you can possibly still talk to him by using persuasion and/or bribing him (bribe him a few 1000 is generally the easiest way). However, he was lying when he said his guards could look after themselves; if you kill the warden he and his daughters will hate you and attack you when you talk to them. Too bad he didn't tell you earlier... If he still refuses to speak with you, you can try the command spell but this may very well cause him to attack, which will definitely ruin the Main Quest. You can also use a charm spell to get him to forgive you for killing an inmate.

[edit] The Corprusarium

The Corprusarium is downstairs and is probably about the only thing unlocked around here. The catch here is, which you find out by talking to the warden Vistha-Kai, you must not harm the inmates here (hence, do not take a companion!), though they certainly have no qualms about hurting you. This is a good place for Invisibility or Chameleon if you have it, or a good Sneak skill. Yagrum is hard to miss in the Corprusarium Bowels, a big guy on a Dwemer robot basically. He will easily give you the Dwemer Boots of Flying and actually has some interesting comments on the disappearance of the Dwemer (it appears that Yagrum himself may be the last and only surviving member of his race). There is also a trick in getting the Corprus inmates not to attack you. Find the guarskin drum and give it to Uupse Fyr next to Yagrum. She will play a tune to soothe the inmates.

[edit] The Cure?

Return to Divayth, give him the boots, and accept the potion. Note that if you run into a problem trying to give Divayth the boots because he won't take them, it may be due to having a pair of the same type of boots. As soon as you remove one pair from your inventory he'll gladly take the other pair and cure you. He will require you to drink the potion in front of him, though.

It turns out that the potion doesn't actually cure you, but just removes the negative effects of the disease. Thus, you have the complete disease resistance that Corprus gives, but no loss of attributes. Note that the 1000 gold Caius gave you wasn't needed, meaning you're a bit richer too. Things just keep getting better and better. You can return to Caius in Balmora for the next stage of the quest.

If you return to Fyr at a later point in the game, he will tell you that the potion doesn't seem to work on the rest of his cases and that he killed two of his most desperate patients while testing it. Apparently you are an exceptional case (though as you may have found out in a Temple quest, the Nerevarine is supposedly protected from death by prophecy.)

[edit] Notes

  • In the locked closet on the same level as Divayth Fyr, you can find the great Cuirass of the Savior's Hide and the unique mace Scourge. There is also the Indoranyon Propylon Index on his desk that he will not mind if you take. If you take any of his alchemy ingredients or books, however, he will attack you.
  • There's also a magical Daedric Sanctuary Amulet found in a small ornate lockbox on the shelf next to Divayth Fyr, which will teleport you to the small shrine of Magas Volar. In there, you'll find the Dremora Lord Dregas Volar, carrying the Daedric Crescent, a powerful and unique blade. You will be instantly teleported out of the shrine when you kill Volar.
  • If you talk to Divayth about plundering the dungeon, it seems one of his hobbies is to invite thieves to try and steal his rather large collection of treasure and artifacts. Evidently there is a good deal of loot to be held in the Corprusarium if you are a talented enough thief. All the chests have 100 magnitude locks and are trapped. They contain Dwemer artifacts, coins, and a 'few' nice items. There are a total of 5 chests in the Corprusarium, each containing a key (1092, 897, 802, 738, and 678). These keys will open other chests, including some of those in Tel Fyr itself. There are more chests in Tel Fyr, each with some treasure and a key (1008, 1155). Note that some NPCs, such as Divayth, don't seem to mind you going through and taking their things because they are not marked with an ownership tag (but to be careful, use the console command TFH; if it doesn't list an owner, it is fair game).
  • Likewise, Yagrum has a full suit of Dwemer armor in his closet, in addition to about 12,000 gold worth of Dwemer coins and a few books, but Yagrum and Uupse Fyr will attack you if they see you remove anything from it. It is a simple matter to walk around and behind the closet, out of view, and access it from there, though. Also, there is a locked (100) chest next to the platform upon which you find Uupse and Yagrum, which contains the warhammer Volendrung, a neat-looking but otherwise unexceptional weapon.
  • If you simply sit and wait, you can get your Strength and Endurance up incredibly high, but your Intelligence, Willpower, Personality and Speed incredibly down. These are the normal effects of Corprus Disease. It's an easy way to increase two important warrior traits (if you sleep a LOT) and, because they are caused by a simple damage attribute effect, the reduced attributes can easily be restored.
  • Alternatively, you can use the console in the PC version and enter the commands:
player->SetPersonality 1000
player->SetSpeechcraft 1000
Remember to record your initial values so you can reset them afterwards.

[edit] Bugs

  • If you have given a Dwemer Coherer to Divayth Fyr before Caius sends you, the Main Quest skips ahead when you talk to Caius.

1 The Spymaster promoted me to Traveler rank, but is very worried about my Corprus disease. My best chance of a cure is Divayth Fyr, an ancient Telvanni wizard who runs a Corprusarium for victims of the disease. With the Dwemer artifact and 1000 gold Caius gave me, I'll go to Tel Fyr and persuade Divayth Fyr to cure my corprus disease. I must hurry back to the Spymaster when I'm cured, because Caius knows how to get the lost prophecies Nibani Maesa asked for.
5 Caius says Tel Fyr, Divayth Fyr's tower, is southwest of Sadrith Mora, on an island on the southwestern edge of Zafirbel Bay. There's no boat service, so I must water-walk or swim from Sadrith Mora. Use the guild guide at the Mages Guild to reach Sadrith Mora. Then, at Wolverine Hall, Fighters Guild, ask the scout Sondryn Irathi for detailed directions to Tel Fyr. Caius gave me levitation potions, since Telvanni wizards don't use stairs.
10 I showed Divayth Fyr the Dwemer artifact the Spymaster gave me, but I didn't give it to him.
12 I showed Divayth Fyr the Dwemer artifact the Spymaster gave me, but I didn't give it to him. He seemed annoyed with me.
15 I gave Divayth Fyr the Dwemer artifact the Spymaster gave me. It seems to have made a good impression on him.
20 Divayth Fyr says that the corprus disease makes you immune to other diseases, and that the Nerevarine prophecies say the Nerevarine will be immune to disease. Can it just be a coincidence?
25 Divayth Fyr has offered to give me a potion that may cure me of corprus disease. It might also kill me, but, as he says, I haven't a better choice. All I have to do is go down into the Corprusarium, find a corprus victim named Yagrum Bagarn, collect a pair of boots from him, then return to Divayth Fyr, and he'll give me the potion.
28 I have been warned by Vistha-Kai, Warden of the Corprusarium, not to harm the inmates of the Corprusarium.
30 I have killed one of the inmates of the Corprusarium.
32 I have killed one of the residents of Tel Fyr. I doubt this will make me popular with the wizard Divayth Fyr.
40 Yagrum Bagarn gave me the Dwemer boots Divayth Fyr asked for. Now, when I deliver these boots to Divayth Fyr, he will give me the potion that I hope will cure my corprus disease.
46 I gave Divayth Fyr the Dwemer boots from Yagrum Bagarn, and he offered to give me the potion, but only if I'd take it right there, before his eyes, so he could closely observe its effects. Those are his conditions. He said to come back when I'm ready to take the potion.
50 Finished I gave Divayth Fyr the Dwemer boots from Yagrum Bagarn, and he gave me the potion. It didn't cure me. But it did remove all apparent signs of the disease. Divayth Fyr said he didn't actually WANT to cure me. He just wanted to remove the harmful features of the disease while preserving its virtues. It worked. And now Divayth Fyr is eager to test the potion on subjects in the Corprusarium. But I must hurry back to report to the Spymaster, and search for the lost prophecies.

10 Uupse Fyr said that if I would find a guarskin drum and bring it to her, she could play the drum to calm the corprus victims. She says the victims wander away with the drum sometimes, so I'll have to search for it.
100 Finished I brought Uupse Fyr a guarskin drum so she could play some rhythms to soothe the corprus victims.
