Auroran

Aurorans are leveled Daedra from the realm of Meridia added by the Knights of the Nine official mod. They are commanded by Umaril the Unfeathered, and share his desire to destroy the Nine Divines. During the quest Umaril the Unfeathered, the Aurorans that you meet inside Garlas Malatar will continually be resurrected until the dark orb is destroyed.

  • Found: They are encountered several times trying to desecrate chapels, and are also found at Garlas Malatar during the quest Umaril the Unfeathered and after completing the Knights of the Nine questline.
  • Magic: They have 25% magic resistance and 50% shock resistance. They have two lesser powers. Light that Burns is Shock Damage accompanied by Light. The amount of damage is level dependent (varying from 1 pt for 10 secs to 6 pts for 10 secs). Light that Protects is a Shock Shield (magnitude varies from 10% to 30%).
  • Items: Their bodies have a Daedra Heart. They have a 25% chance of carrying each of the following items:
  • a leveled piece of jewelry.
  • a leveled gem.
  • an empty soul gem.
  • a filled soul gem.

[edit] Umaril the Unfeathered

Umaril the Unfeathered in the spiritual plane

Umaril the Unfeathered is an Ayleid sorcerer added by the Knights of the Nine official mod. Umaril is a survivor of the sorcerer-king Ayleids who once ruled Tamriel and enslaved the human population. According to The Song of Pelinal, Umaril is only half-elven, born of an Ayleid mother and a divine father. His alliance with Meridia has granted him immortality: killing his body just sends his spiritual form back to Meridia's plane of Oblivion. Umaril appears as an oversized Auroran with a golden face and wing-like appendages out of his back.

Umaril was defeated by Pelinal Whitestrake at the start of the First Era. However Umaril was able to cheat death by escaping to the plane of Meridia.

Umaril triggers the events of the Knights of the Nine questline by returning to Tamriel to seek vengeance upon mankind and the Eight Divines (now Nine) who had previously helped defeat him. In order to defeat Umaril, he must be conquered in both the physical and spiritual planes. The eight Crusader's Relics originally used by Pelinal can help to destroy Umaril's physical form. But in order to reach the spiritual plane, a ninth item is needed, namely The Blessing of Talos, bestowed by Talos (who was not yet one of the nine divines when Pelinal fought Umaril). This blessing allows the crusader to follow Umaril into the spiritual plane, where a second battle must be fought to truly defeat Umaril.

The game officially considers Umaril to be a leveled daedric creature, rather than an NPC. One implication is that his soul can be trapped using a Grand Soul Gem rather than a Black Soul Gem. With one hand, he carries a leveled elven claymore, Umaril's Sword, with Shock Damage and Damage Fatigue enchantments. He can cast the leveled spell Mortal Light, which does up to 42 points Damage Magicka and 42 points Shock Damage. Umaril is immune to shock damage and immune to Wabbajack. He has 33% Resist Magic, 33% Resist Fire, and 33% Spell Absorption (accompanied by Stunted Magicka).

However, Umaril is vulnerable to the Crusader's Relics. When fighting a character wearing the full six-piece set of crusader's armor he is weakened by the Holy Aura, reducing his Agility, Luck, and Strength attributes by 60 points each and his Blade skill by 50 points. In the physical plane, Umaril is additionally subject to Crusader's Bane, an 83% Weakness to Fire effect, when hit by either the Mace or Sword of the Crusader.

For more information, see the article on Umaril the Unfeathered.

[edit] Unoriginal but Unique Creatures

Creature types originally from Oblivion, that have unique versions only found during Knights of the Nine.

[edit] Forest Guardian

The Forest Guardian is a huge bear, used by the Divine Kynareth to test those who claim themselves worthy of the Boots of the Crusader. It is encountered at the Grove of Trials, guarding Kynareth's Grotto during the quest Nature's Fury. It resembles a large Brown Bear.

[edit]

Lord Berich Vlindrel

You may overhear certain NPCs talking about The Wraith of Lord Vlindrel haunting along the Orange road. Lord Berich Vlindrel was once a Knight of the Nine himself long ago. Now however, he haunts Underpall Cave as a wraith, guarding Sword of the Crusader. You will get to fight the wraith during the quest The Sword of the Crusader. The Wraith of Lord Vlindrel appears as a Gloom Wraith with the Nether Lich shaded effect.
