Castle Dour is a large fortress in Solitude, the base of the Imperial Legion and residence of the Emperor in Skyrim.
The exterior of the Castle Dour Tower
Castle Dour is separated from the rest of Solitude by high stone walls, with two gateways allowing entry. One gateway is on the southwest and leads to the commercial side of the city, while the other gateway is on the southeast and leads to the residential areas of Solitude, as well as the Blue Palace. Inside the walls is the courtyard where Captain Aldis trains the Solitude Guards in archery and swordsmanship. On the northwest side of the grounds there are two entrances to the Castle Dour interior, one at ground level and one at the top of the wall. The Thalmor Headquarters are located at the top of a large stone staircase on the north side. On the east side of the grounds the Temple of the Divines can be found at ground level. The south side of the Castle features the Emperor's Tower, located between the two main gates.

[edit] Castle Dour (Interior)
This area is the headquarters of the Imperial Legion, containing a map room, barracks, and armory. Entering the castle from the courtyard, you will be in a moderate sized entry chamber on the east side of the interior. An Arcane Enchanter and Alchemy Lab can be found on the west side of the entry chamber, to the sides of the doorway to the map room. Through the west door of the entry chamber is the map room where General Tullius and Legate Rikke can be found here planning the war against the Stormcloaks at all hours. The map room connects to a small living quarters on the north side and a storeroom to the west, and the staircase on the south side leads to another bedchamber in the west side, or the exit to the Solitude walls in the east side. Going north from the entry chamber leads to the barracks of the Solitude Guards. There is a small armory behind an unlocked gate on the north side of the barracks area containing Imperial Legion weapons and armor and a few potions. The stairs on the south side of the entry chamber lead to the Castle Dour Dungeon.
[edit] Castle Dour Dungeons
The Dungeon is located in the basement of Castle Dour, and serves as Solitude's jail if you are forced to pay for crimes committed in Haafingar.
If you are imprisoned here, the cell has a crumbling wall in a corner which may be used to escape easily. Along this path there is a hole in a wall allowing access to the locked personal belongings chest, but not the evidence chest (stolen items), and an Leveled War Axe on a chair. Note that activating the crumbling wall will alert nearby guards, and cause the nearest one to investigate your cell, so make your way out quickly. The guard will leave the door of your cell open after investigating. This can be useful for a stealth-oriented player, as you can then leave your cell and pickpocket the Castle Dour Dungeon Key from one of the guards. Thus armed, you can unlock both the personal belongings and evidence chests.
