Hulda, owner of The Bannered Mare

Hulda is a Nord innkeeper who owns the Bannered Mare in Whiterun. She will sometimes mention that she plans on retiring soon and selling the inn to Ysolda. Ysolda will also mention that she is trying to save up the money to buy the Bannered Mare from Hulda, but this never actually happens. If Hulda is killed, Ysolda will immediately take over the Bannered Mare, but will still speak of buying the inn from Hulda. Walk into the inn and she will greet you: "Come on in. Let me know if you need anything, or take a seat by the fire and I'll send someone over."

If you sit in any seat in the inn, she will call out to Saadia to serve you, even if you sit on the bar stool right in front of her. Like the other residents she will never mention Saadia, if she is gone at the end of her quest.

Hulda will sell innkeeper merchandise if you initiate conversation with her, and she offers a bed for rent at a rate of 10 gold. She will buy firewood for 5 gold each, which increases her disposition and allows you to take low value items from the inn. She will also give bounties to complete for Whiterun's Jarl.

She wears a set of farm clothes and a pair of boots. She is equipped with an iron dagger and carries a selection of common loot and gold. She does not go to bed, instead staying behind the counter almost all of the time. If you find her outside, she will explain that she is just out for a break, enjoying the fine weather.

Saadia: "Yes, mum!"
Saadia: "You want a drink?"

Saadia: "Depends. Are you thirsty, hungry, both?"

Notes

• If Hulda dies before you receive the rumor for the Whispering Door, you may be unable to start the quest, due to a bug with Ysolda.
