Tamriel:Cyrodiil
The UESPWiki – Your source for The Elder Scrolls since 1995
Cyrodiil is a province in the central-south of Tamriel and is the home of a human race named Imperials. It is the center of their Empire, which controls all other provinces. Cyrodiil is also known as the Heartland and is the setting for the game The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The capital of Cyrodiil, The Imperial City, is located on an island in the center of the province.
[edit] Geography
Cyrodiil has a varied environment, and is divided into several regions:
- The Nibenay Basin: Also known as "the Heartlands," the basin contains the river valley of the Niben. It is mostly an open, agricultural area where the Nibenese Imperials hail from. The Imperial City is located on an island at the base of the Niben River. The city of Bravil is located on the banks of Niben Bay.
- The Great Forest: An immense woodland area just west of the Imperial City.
- Colovian Highlands: A hilly, forested region of western Cyrodiil. The town of Chorrol can be found in this region.
- The West Weald: The West Weald is an open countryside of southern Cyrodiil, well known for its vineyards and tomato farms. The city of Skingrad is located here.
- The Gold Coast: The western coastline of Cyrodiil. Aside from the occasional farmlands, the main features of the region are the city of Anvil, a major port city, and the inland city of Kvatch.
- Jerall Mountains: A mountain range in northern Cyrodiil, on the Skyrim border. The town of Bruma is here.
- Valus Mountains: A mountain range in eastern Cyrodiil on the Morrowind border. The city of Cheydinhal is located here.
- Blackwood: A swampland in southern Cyrodiil east of Leyawiin. It's along the Black Marsh border.
[edit] History
Cyrodiil was originally inhabited by the Ayleids, who were killed off in an uprising by the human slaves they kept. Ayleid ruins litter the country, along with magical runestones and doomstones. The White Gold Tower, containing the Imperial Palace, was also built by the Ayleids. Its tall white spire can be seen from most areas in Cyrodiil.
