The Fighters Guild, present across all of Tamriel, provides a common, and more importantly, public place of training and study for those of the warrior persuasion. The guild is a professional organization chartered by the Emperor to regulate the hiring and training of mercenaries. Training, goods, and services are cheaper for members, and the Guild Stewards know where to find work.

The Fighters Guild was founded in the 320th year of the 2nd Era by Versidae-Shaie at the suggestion of Dinieras-Ves "the Iron" to provide for public order without having to resort to standing armies. At first, it was called The Syffim ('soldiers' in Tsaesci). Although it began as an Akaviri-only organization, it eventually opened its doors to all races.

For general information about the Fighters Guild, see the Tamriel article.

In Morrowind the guild maintains branches in Ald'ruhn, Balmora, Wolverine Hall and Vivec. It is possible to join the Guild in any of these places, but the most usual person to ask - and the only one who has quests suitable for the really green rookie - is Eydis Fire-Eye of Balmora.

Sjoring Hard-Heart (Vivec) is the current guildmaster, but there is bad blood between him and the former leader, Percius Mercius (Ald'ruhn), who is unhappy about the direction in which Sjoring is leading the Guild. Conflict has not yet broken out, but opinion is being polarised and nobody is quite sure which way to turn, or what Sjoring is really up to.

The Fighters Guild are, naturally, on good terms with the Imperial Legion and Imperial Cult, friendly with the Mages Guild, have a working business relationship with House Hlaalu and a healthy respect for the House Redoran warrior-code of honor.

[edit] Joining the Morrowind Fighters Guild

Joining the Fighters Guild is pretty simple: you just need to talk to the right people. There are five people in Vvardenfell that can admit you to the Fighters Guild:

Chat with any of these characters about joining the Fighters Guild, and they will admit you as an Associate.

[edit] Guild Conflicts

There is a conflict between the Fighters Guild and the Thieves Guild. This conflict appears during the Code Book quest for Eydis Fire-Eye in Balmora. Once you complete this quest, you will no longer be able to join the Thieves Guild (unless you use the console command PCJoinFaction "Thieves Guild"), but being a member of the Thieves Guild makes the quest harder to complete. There are however quite a few ways around this:

  1. Pickpocket the book from Sottilde
  2. Taunt and then kill Sottilde for the book
  3. Hold off on doing the quest until becoming Master Thief of the Thieves Guild
  4. Don't join the Thieves Guild until Sottilde gives you the code book. Then you simply join the Thieves Guild before you hand the book over to Eydis.
  5. Do only the quests up to this one for Eydis and don't ask her for any more quests so that you don't receive this one. Complete the Bitter Cup quest from Gentleman Jim Stacey (including reporting back to him). After this, you can ask Eydis for another quest and she will skip this one.
  6. Alternately, if you already belong to both guilds, you can accept the Code Book Quest from Eydis Fire-Eye. When you ask Sottilde about the Code Book, she will reveal to you that the Fighters Guild is involved with the Camonna Tong. At this point, ignore Eydis's quests until after you give her the Bitter Cup and have reported back to Gentleman Jim. When you return to Eydis, she will continue to ask you about the Code Book in her greeting, but she will allow you to do her other quests when you ask for Orders.
