Strict laws prevented the trading of Dwemer artifacts taken illegally from the ruins.

The embodiment of its creator's sphere, the dimension is fraught with natural disasters and destructive change. The realm is covered by an ocean of lava, scattered with scorched volcanic islands and ruined structures. Many lesser Daedra roam the realm freely, but Dremora dominate the hierarchy. Very little flora grow in the realm's hostile environment. Burnt grass and dead trees dot the landscape, while Bloodgrass, aggressive Harrada Roots and poisonous Spiddal Plants grow abundantly in the charred soil.

The Deshaan Plain is a fertile area in southern Morrowind, which merges with the swamps of Black Marsh further south. It borders the Valus Mountains to the west and the banks of the Thir River to the east, where the Hlaalu city of Narsis is situated.

[edit] Direnni Tower

The Direnni Tower, also called the Ur-Tower, the Adamantine Tower and Ada-mantia, is a tall, circular, and ancient tower at the highest point of the Isle of Balfiera in the Iliac Bay. The Tower was used as a fortress, prison, and palace by the Direnni Hegemony, but its true purpose has remained a mystery. The latest magical divination of its age places its construction around ME 2500, making it the oldest known structure in Tamriel. The tower has been modified several times over the years, but the cylindrical core of metal has not been touched and is rumored to extend as far into the ground as it does protrude above it, but its depths have never been thoroughly explored.

Fang Lair, a Dwemer stronghold in Hammerfell, is located in these mountains.[2] It's said that the southernmost tips of the mountain range could be seen from the top parapet of the Crystal Tower of Summerset Isle.[1] "By the Dragon's Teeth" is a common saying among Redguards.[citation needed]

During the War of Bend'r-mahk, the forces of Skyrim advanced into Hammerfell and besieged the city. The situation has persisted to at least 3E 432.

The city is divided into western and eastern sections, walled off from each other, each with their own government. Dragonstar West is still under the control of Hammerfell, while Dragonstar East is predominated by Skyrim. An atmosphere of deep mutual distrust prevails between the two sides. The city has an arena pit, a prison and guild halls for the Mages Guild, Fighters Guild and Thieves Guild. Shadow Gates can also be found in the city.

[edit] Dragontail Mountains

The mountain range acts as a border for many other regions, including Tigonus, the Alik'r Desert, Santaki, Dak'fron, Lainlyn, Kozanset, Totambu, and Mournoth, and it completely surrounds Ephesus. The provincial seat is the city of Dragontail.

The misty peaks tower over Markarth and Karthwasten in the Reach, though they gradually diminish closer to Haafingar and Solitude. The range curves around the Karth River, and nearly stretches into Falkreath Hold. Since the First Era, the Reachmen have been taking advantage of the cliffs, caves, and rugged terrain of the Druadach Mountains in guerrilla warfare campaigns against invading armies. They are home to many ancient ruins, fortresses, and Orc strongholds.

A soldier named Codus Callonus was stationed at the fort and was so impressed by the Khajiiti tactics during the battle that he recorded his impressions in a series of books.
